Our Verdict
I recently put the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 through its paces during a series of on-the-go portrait sessions. This impressively small light packs a punch, offering a 40W output that consistently outperformed my expectations for such a portable unit.
Performance & Build Quality
The build quality feels remarkably sturdy, featuring an advanced cooling system that successfully prevents overheating during extended use. The gyroscope-modeled heat sink and FOC fans are quiet, ensuring that the unit remains reliable and durable even during long video shoots.
Day-to-Day Experience
Using the M40 is incredibly intuitive thanks to the dual-wheel control system for brightness and color temperature. The fast PD charging capability is a game-changer for quick turnarounds, allowing me to stay powered up without being tethered to a wall for long.
This light is perfect for freelance photographers and mobile content creators who prioritize extreme portability without sacrificing lighting intensity.
